明浙江山阴人，字伯时。洪武初，以荐授本县教谕。转楚王府录事。擢监察御史。为人正直，纠弹不避权贵。尝于丞相胡惟庸、御史大夫陈宁、中丞涂节侍帝坐，从容燕语时，前出弹章，劾三人恃功怙宠，内怀反侧。帝怒，叱为快口御史，下锦衣卫狱。寻得释。出为陕西按察司佥事。屡疏陈政事，多数报可。后坐事将受刑，太祖亲自审问，得免。未几，罢归。再起，撰诏称旨，特擢山西右布政使。寻以事谪安南。建文初入拜左副都御史，卒于官。
