陈履，本名天泽，字德基，号定庵，祖父陈志敬（有传），为明代乡贤。父亲陈廷对，明时海寇犯乡，组织乡人抗御有功。陈履自幼受贤良薰陶，遂承祖训，未到二十岁，文章学行誉满莞邑，为县令孙学古赏识，提拔。嘉靖三十七年（1588年）科中举人，隆庆五年（1571年）名登进士榜，官受浦圻县令。陈履到任后，目睹民众赋税繁重，流离失业者触目惊心。陈履亲下乡间，体察民情，实行免劳役，宽赋税，奖励耕织，数年后蒲圻民众得以安宁。当他离任时，百姓相沿不绝，到衙署挽留他，后来还立祠铭记他的功德。
