陈洵，字述叔，别号海绡，是广东江门市潮连芝山人（前属新会县潮连乡），生于清朝同治十年（1871年） 。少有才思,聪慧非凡，尤好填词。光绪间曾补南海县学生员。后客游江西十余年，风尘仆仆，蹇滞殊甚。返回广州之后为童子师，设馆于广州西关,以舌耕糊口，生活穷窘。辛亥（1911年）革命后，受到新潮流的影响，思想有所变化，是年在广州加入南国诗社。晚岁教授广州中山大学。
