吴头楚尾之地的路是坎坷还是顺坦？在细雨之中慢慢进了深秋，秋天的江水暗自起伏。
晚上趁着寒冷的潮水渡过江去，眼中尽是黄叶，耳边尽是雁嘶。
注释
吴头楚尾：今江西北部，此地春秋时是吴楚两国交界的地方。
烟雨：蒙蒙细雨。
寒潮：寒冷的潮水。
江上鉴赏
此诗描写了深秋时节，江上白波涌起，而烟雨飘飘，天色阴暗，江上顿时给人沉沉的感觉。那滚滚的江水挟着深秋的寒气，风寒水冷，吴楚一带，秋意盎然。而两岸山峦经秋意的感染，树叶也被秋霜染成金黄，那金黄的叶子随风飘起，零落在秋山之坡，飘忽在秋水之上。树林里、天空中，一行行大雁南归，时起的雁声萦绕在天宇之间，萦绕在人们心头。诗人从不同的角度描绘景物：空中，雁鸣阵阵，江上，白波涌起，四面，烟雨迷蒙，地上，落叶萧萧，多层面的渲染，秋的韵味就显得浓浓的足足的，产生了强烈的艺术氛围和效果。此诗一、二两句，就给人开阔辽远之感：吴头楚尾，是春秋时吴楚两国交界的地方，在今江西省北部，那里，地域辽阔，山水相接，烟雨迷茫，江涛奔涌，此境此景，诗人非常激赏，足现其心胸之开阔，意境之开朗。三、四两句，既交待了渡江的时间、环境，更随意点染，勾勒出一幅由寒潮、山林、大雁、黄叶构成的秋江图，简洁洗炼，蕴藉含蓄。而秋江晚渡的意境，清爽脱俗，超然典雅，长髯白衫的先觉圣明凌虚于浩淼烟波之上，给人以鲜明深刻的印象。

王士祯（1634—1711），原名王士禛，字子真、贻上，号阮亭，又号渔洋山人，人称王渔洋，谥文简。新城（今山东桓台县）人，常自称济南人，清初杰出诗人、学者、文学家。博学好古，能鉴别书、画、鼎彝之属，精金石篆刻，诗为一代宗匠，与朱彝尊并称。书法高秀似晋人。康熙时继钱谦益而主盟诗坛。论诗创神韵说。早年诗作清丽澄淡，中年以后转为苍劲。擅长各体，尤工七绝。但未能摆脱明七子摹古馀习，时人诮之为“清秀李于麟”，然传其衣钵者不少。好为笔记，有《池北偶谈》、《古夫于亭杂录》、《香祖笔记》等，然辨驳议论多错愕、失当。
