家随兵尽屋空存，税额宁容减一分。

译文
军兵离去，家室一空。财物掠夺走，男子抓了丁。税赋的数额又哪里容许减去一分？
缺衣少食尚可勉强解决，赋税常交又急迫，听到传令让人心惊。
到了夏天，桑树疯长充塞村寨，却无人养蚕，无丝可织。到了春耕时节，田野荒芜，耕牛都被犒劳了军队。
这样下去，哪一州县会得到好处呢？只有那些军棍酷吏靠宰杀榨取百姓得到更多功勋。
注释
税额：规定应缴赋税的数字。宁容：岂容，不许。
旋营：临时对付。
赋输长急：官府长年都在急迫地催缴赋税。输，送。
充寨：充作修营寨的木料。
犊劳军：将耕牛牵去慰劳官军。犊，小牛。
“如此”二句：多州县都处于如此水深火热之中，没谁去理会，那些作地方宫的却一味不顾人民的死活，只管敲榨勒索，争取立功受赏、升官发财。

题所居村舍创作背景
这是一首战乱纪实诗，诗人将村居耳闻目见的情景，绘成一幅广大农民被压迫、被剥削的悲惨图画，篇中揭露了社会政治昏暗，民不聊生，反映了当时人民的疾苦与呼声，是当时社会生活的真实写照。写战乱造成的农村萧条凋敝，声讨了一群屠杀人民起家的官吏。

题所居村舍鉴赏
这首墙头诗，题在作者所住村舍的墙上，意在叫大家看，所以写得很通俗。某些前人和今人以“鄙俚近俗”贬斥杜苟鹤反映民间疾苦的诗，孰不知既反映民间疾苦，又力图写得通俗易懂，尽可能争取更多的读者，正是杜苟鹤的难能可贵之处。
离乱之后，诗人寄居在一个被战争蹂躏的满目疮痍的村庄里，他见到许多农舍，空无人居，由于赖以蚕织的桑树竟被砍伐，充作修营寨的材料，所有耕牛也都被杀掉犒劳了士兵，使得蚕没法养，帛不能织，大片田地也遭到了荒芜，人们缺衣少食，只能凑合着过，但是就在这种情况下，农家所负担的赋税一分也不能少，催缴赋税官吏的呼喊声仍然非常急迫，实在惨不忍听，作者最后指出，遭到兵燹之害得并不只这一个村庄，而是许多州县。官府怎么一点也不予理会，减免赋税呢，原来这些地方官吏都是一群不顾人民死活的家伙，老百姓都被杀害完了，他们还在多收税向上面邀功请赏。

杜荀鹤(846～904)，唐代诗人。字彦之，号九华山人。汉族，池州石埭（今安徽石台）人。大顺进士，以诗名，自成一家，尤长于宫词。大顺二年，第一人擢第，复还旧山。宣州田頵遣至汴通好，朱全忠厚遇之，表授翰林学士、主客员外郎、知制诰。恃势侮易缙绅，众怒，欲杀之而未及。天祐初卒。自序其文为《唐风集》十卷，今编诗三卷。事迹见孙光宪《北梦琐言》、何光远《鉴诫录》、《旧五代史·梁书》本传、《唐诗纪事》及《唐才子传》。
