译文
专心读书，不知不觉春天过完了，
每一寸时间就像一寸黄金珍贵。
并不是道人过来嘲笑，
周公的精义孔子的思想教导投入钻研中。
注释
白鹿洞：在今江西省境内庐山五老峰南麓的后屏山之南。这里青山环抱，碧树成荫，十分幽静。名为“白鹿洞”，实际并不是洞，而是山谷间的一个坪地。
春深：春末，晚春。
一寸光阴一寸金：以金子比光阴，谓时间极为宝贵，应该珍惜。寸阴：极短的时间。
道人：指白鹿洞的道人。
引笑：逗笑，开玩笑。
周情孔思：指周公孔子的精义、教导。
追寻：深入钻研。
白鹿洞二首·其一鉴赏
首句叙事。“读书不觉已春深”，言自己专心读书，不知不觉中春天又快过完了。“春深”犹言春末、晚春。从这句诗中可以看出，诗人读书入神，每天都过得紧张而充实，全然忘记了时间。春天快过完了，是诗人不经意中猛然发现的。这一发现令诗人甚感意外，颇多感慨。他觉得光阴过得太快了，许多知识要学，时间总不够用似的。次句写诗人的感悟。“一寸光阴一寸金”，寸阴，指极短的时间，这里以金子喻光阴，谓时间宝贵，应该珍惜。这是诗人由第一句叙事自然引发出来的感悟，也是诗人给后人留下的不朽格言，千百年来一直勉励人们、特别是读书人珍惜时间、注重知识积累，不断充实和丰富自己。三、四句叙事，补叙自己发觉“春深”，是因为“道人来引笑”。“道人”指白鹿洞的道人。“引笑”指逗笑，开玩笑。道人修禅养性是耐得住寂寞、静得下心的了，而诗人需要道人来“引笑”，才肯放松一下，休息片刻，可见诗人读书之专心致志，非同寻常。这不，道人到来之时，诗人正在深入钻研周公孔子的精义、教导呢。“周情孔思”，当指古代读书人所读的儒家典籍。从诗人的读书生活看，诗人是惜时如金、潜心求知的人。我们应当从中受到启发和教育，知识是靠时间积累起来的，为充实和丰富自己，应十分珍惜时间才是。

王贞白，字有道（875—958），号灵溪。信州永丰（今江西广丰）人。唐末五代十国著名诗人。唐乾宁二年（895）登进士，七年后（902）授职校书郎，尝与罗隐、方干、贯休同倡和。在登第授职之间的七年中，他随军出塞抵御外敌，写下了许多边塞诗，有不少反映边塞生活，激励士气的佳作。征戍之情，深切动人。对军旅之劳、战争景象描写的气势豪迈、色彩浓烈、音调铿锵。有《灵溪集》七卷，今编诗一卷。其名句“一寸光阴一寸金”，至今民间广为流传。
