湘水经东安县东，有沉香塘，石壁隙插一株，云是沉水香，澄潭清冷，绿萝倒影。
湘水自分漓水下。曲曲潺湲，千里飞哀泻。冰玉半湾尘不惹，停凝欲挽东流驾。
百尺危崖谁羽化。一捻残香，拈插莓苔隙。忆自寻香人去也，寒原夕阳烧悲灺。
蝶恋花·湘水自分漓水下鉴赏
此词选自《王夫之文集》。王夫之的《潇湘十景词》集潇湘胜景，抒赞颂真情，令人大开眼界，乃明清之际词作中的精品。《十景词》均以《蝶恋花》谱之，整齐划一却不失灵动，情随景移而独具匠心。前四景分别绘永州四处颇有代表性的绝胜——宁远舜岭云峰、东安香塘渌水、零陵朝阳旭影、祁阳浯溪苍壁，有山有水，亦虚亦实。描摹则生动形象，给人亲临其境之惑：抒情则真切细腻，传递着诗人的别样情怀。在他的笔下，或险怪、或清冷、或瑰奇、或迷蒙，均以情贯之，恰到好处，故脍炙人口。
这首词涉及这些问题：香塘为何香气不绝？渌水何以澄碧冰清？是桂子飘香，顺漓水而下，注入湘江，汇聚到此而使然；是众溪潺湲，不舍昼夜，在此吐故纳新而风情万种？是造物主恩赐捻香引河？答案是什么，无须深究，有一条却是千真万确的：千百年来，香塘以其甘甜清纯、绿水碧波招引和接纳着历朝历代到此观赏的名士淑女、迁客骚人、庶民百姓。面对那曲折有致的溪流，那纤尘不染的方塘，那凝香溢彩的涟漪，那优美动人的传奇，惟有净化，惟有陶醉，人世间的喜怒哀乐，官场中的升降黜罚，顿时会被香塘的清流冲洗得一干二净。
词人忽而沉思默想，似走火入魔：塘边百尺危崖是何人移置于此？那一柱沉水香的石壁又是何人将它植入莓苔隙缝之中？能找到这位力大无穷、为人间带来福祉的神仙吗？这时，只觉得寒气逼人。忽而想到屈原《涉江》：“乘鄂渚而反顾兮，欸秋冬之绪风。”因而悲喜交集。
与《蝶恋花·舜岭云峰》相比，此词格调颇有些低沉。描述之中略显伤感，赞叹之外已蕴悲情，诗人在遣词造句时有所考虑，如“哀泻”、“残香”、“悲余灺”等便是。

王夫之（1619年10月7日－1692年2月18日），字而农，号姜斋、又号夕堂，湖广衡州府衡阳县（今湖南衡阳）人。他与顾炎武、黄宗羲并称明清之际三大思想家。其著有《周易外传》、《黄书》、《尚书引义》、《永历实录》、《春秋世论》、《噩梦》、《读通鉴论》、《宋论》等书。王夫之自幼跟随自己的父兄读书，青年时期王夫之积极参加反清起义，晚年王夫之隐居于石船山，著书立传，自署船山病叟、南岳遗民，学者遂称之为船山先生。
