译文
我的旅行被大雪阻止于宛许之间，日暮时回眺着京城。
放眼望去四周是一片苍茫的旷野，故乡的山河不知在何处。
一缕孤单的炊烟在村子的边上冉冉升起，迟归的大雁也早已飞到遥远的天边去了。
积雪覆盖了近处的田野和远处的山岗，只有饥饿的老鹰还在寻觅捕捉雪中的野兔。
我从少年时起就摆弄文墨，专注于诗词歌赋。
可惜十次上京城都没有考中，我现在已羞于回家了，只好彷徨而无奈地呆在这回家的路上。
注释
南归：指诗人自长安归故乡。
滞（zhì）：不流通，引申为滞留。
宛许：即宛地，泛指南阳以北。
京豫（yù）：指洛阳。唐时将洛阳设为东都。因其地属豫州，故称为京豫。
莽（mǎng）茫茫：郊野广漠无际。
乡山：故乡的山脉。
村际：中间。
平皋（gāo）：平原。
文墨：写文章。
属意：倾心。
章句：章节与句子。
十上：多次上书。此借此科考落第。
裴（péi）回：徘徊。

此诗是作者落第后失意归来行至南阳北所作。此诗当作于《岁暮归南山》、《行至汝坟寄卢征君》之后。

孟浩然（689-740），男，汉族，唐代诗人。本名不详（一说名浩），字浩然，襄州襄阳（今湖北襄阳）人，世称“孟襄阳”。浩然，少好节义，喜济人患难，工于诗。年四十游京师，唐玄宗诏咏其诗，至“不才明主弃”之语，玄宗谓：“卿自不求仕，朕未尝弃卿，奈何诬我？”因放还未仕，后隐居鹿门山，著诗二百余首。孟浩然与另一位山水田园诗人王维合称为“王孟”。
