防微杜渐的典故

东汉和帝即位后，窦太后专权。她的哥哥窦宪官居大将军，任用窦家兄弟为文武大官，掌握着国家的军政大权。看到这种现象，许多大臣心里很着急，都为汉室江山捏了把汗。大臣丁鸿就是其中的一个。

丁鸿很有学问，对经书极有研究。对窦太后的专权他十分气愤，决心为国除掉这一祸根。几年后，天上发生日蚀，丁鸿就借这个当时认为不祥的征兆，上书皇帝，指出窦家权势对于国家的危害，建议迅速改变这种现象。和帝本来早已有这种感觉和打算，于是迅速撤了窦宪的官，窦宪和他的兄弟们因此而自杀。丁鸿在给和帝的上书中，说皇帝如果亲手整顿政治，应在事故开始萌芽时候就注意防止，这样才可以消除隐患，使得国家能够长治久安。
