大放厥词的典故

唐朝著名的文学家柳宗元，字子厚。柳宗元自幼刻苦勤学，10 岁以后，他的诗文就受到人们的称赞。公元793年21岁的柳宗元，凭他的才华考取了进士。26岁担任集贤殿书院正字，替唐王朝编辑、整理图书，有机会阅读了许多书籍。他主张改革朝政，曾积极参加王叔文革新集团的活动。革新失败后，被贬为永州（现在湖南省零陵县）司马，过了10年再贬为柳州（现在广西柳州市）刺史。公元819年，病死在柳州，年47岁。

柳宗元的散文丰富而多采。他的短篇寓言简练犀利，意味含蓄。他的山水游记形象生动，色彩鲜明。他的论说文缜密谨严，条理井然。他的诗风清朗疏淡，用功精细。他死后的第二年，即公元820年，唐朝著名文学家韩愈曾写了《祭柳子厚文》这篇文章，其中用了这样两句来赞扬柳宗元的文采才华：“玉佩琼琚，大放厥词。”意思是说文笔秀美，尽力铺陈词藻，美如晶莹净洁的玉石。
