春秋时期，卫庄公十分溺爱他的儿子公子州吁，促使他固执放荡，为所欲为，横行霸道。大夫石碏劝告卫庄公不要把州吁培养成骄横跋扈、奢侈腐化的人。庄公死后，州吁杀死哥哥卫桓公，自己做国君，因为性情残暴，被石碏用计杀害。
